Premier Training
ATLFTC training classes include online self-study, classroom instruction and practical exercises to challenge students in preparing for and responding to aviation emergencies. Utilization of critical thinking and strategic decision making skills is encouraged. Live fire training is conducted using Jet-A fuel.
Basic ARFF 1 – In our TRADITIONAL delivery course, all classroom instruction and practical evolutions are conducted in person during an eighty (80) hour, two-week program. The final day concludes with the NPQ/Pro Board Airport Firefighter written and practical examinations for student credentialing eligibility. The course curriculum is based on the Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (IFSTA, 6th Edition) textbook which is included in the course fee.
Basic ARFF 2 – In our BLENDED delivery course, the first forty (40) hours is self-paced/self-study and completed online. This helps reduce student and agency costs associated with hotel stays and per diem issues. The second forty (40) hours are conducted at our training facility and includes the following: two (2) days of curriculum instruction; two (2) full days of practical evolutions, hands-on training, and live fire drills. The final day concludes with the NPQ/Pro Board Airport Firefighter written and practical examinations for student credentialing eligibility. The course curriculum is based on the Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (IFSTA, 6th Edition) textbook which is included in the course fee.
Recurrent live fire drills for current Airport Firefighters are conducted during half-day sessions at our live fire facility. Students have the opportunity to conduct hand-line operations on liquid (Jet-A) and vapor (propane) fires, as well as truck turret support operations and incident command functions during live fire training.
