Airport Deputy General Manager, Sr. | Chief Commercial Officer

Tyronia Smith, Esq., C.M. serves as Senior Deputy General Manager and Chief Commercial Officer for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), overseeing all aeronautical and non-aeronautical revenue-generating activities for the world’s busiest airport.

In this role, Smith leads a commercial enterprise with annual gross revenue exceeding $1.5 billion. Her portfolio includes airline affairs and service retention, property management and development, business development, food and retail concessions, advertising, parking, ground transportation, and the Rental Car Center. She is responsible for driving commercial strategy, fostering industry partnerships, and creating long-term value for the Airport, its passengers, and the communities it serves.

Prior to joining ATL’s executive leadership team, Smith built a distinguished legal career spanning private practice, law firm leadership, and public service. During her tenure with the City of Atlanta Department of Law, she served as Supervisory Senior Attorney in the Business Services Division, Deputy Division Chief of the Finance Practice Group, and Senior Counsel to ATL. She served as Chair of the Professional Development Committee, leading attorney training and professional development initiatives. Prior to her public service, Smith practiced with Parker, Hudson, Rainer & Dobbs before co-founding Chester Jennings & Smith.

A respected leader in the legal and aviation industries, Smith serves as President-Elect of the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers (GAWL) and will lead the organization during its historic centennial year beginning in 2028. She also serves as Chair of the Client Security Fund for the State Bar of Georgia, is a member of the President’s Advisory Board of the AMAC Atlanta Chapter, serves on the Advisory Board of International Airport Review, and is a member of the Board of Visitors for Wake Forest University School of Law.

Smith is a graduate of Wake Forest University, where she earned both her Bachelor of Science degree and Juris Doctor. She is also a Certified Member (C.M.) of the American Association of Airport Executives and a graduate of the KPMG Executive Leadership Institute for Women and other leadership development programs.

Her leadership and professional achievements have been recognized by numerous organizations. Among her honors are the Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC) Award of Achievement for Runway to Success Programming (2026), the GAWL Leading Lady Award (2026), the Large Airport with Best Commercial Team Award from Airport Experience News (2025), the City of Atlanta Woman of Impact Award (2024), the GAWL President’s Award (2024), Atlanta City Attorney Coin of Excellence (2021 and 2022), the American Bar Association’s Rosner & Rosner Young Lawyers Professionalism Award (2013), the State Bar of Georgia Young Lawyers Division’s Ethics & Professionalism Award (2011), and recognition as a Georgia Super Lawyer, Georgia Rising Star, National Trial Attorneys Top 100, and National Black Lawyers 40 Under 40.
