CANOPY ILLUMINATION POLICY
The North and South canopies at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (“Airport”) span lengths of eight hundred sixty-four (864) feet each. Designed to provide shelter for passengers and offer an iconic view of the world’s busiest airport, the structures are part of the Airport’s new modern design.
As part of the Canopy design, there are currently 22 lighting schemes to illuminate the canopies. These schemes have been currently approved by Airport management and programmed to occur on the below dates for 2025. The lighting schemes are as follows:
- ATL Centennial (Every day except holiday scene events)
- Human Trafficking Awareness (Jan. 11)
- The King Center (Jan. 17-18)
- Valentine’s Day (Feb. 10-14)
- President’s Day (Feb. 16-19)
- International Women’s Day (March 7-9)
- St. Patrick’s Day (March 15-19)
- Autism Awareness (April 1-2)
- Spring (April 3-30 unless otherwise noted)
- Earth Day (April 22-23)
- Memorial Day (May 24-28)
- Sickle Cell Awareness (June 17-19)
- Independence Day (June 29-July 5)
- Purple Heart Day (Aug. 5-7)
- Labor Day (Aug. 30-Sep. 3)
- Childhood Cancer Awareness (Sep. 4-9)
- Breast Cancer Awareness (Oct. 1-31 unless otherwise noted)
- Domestic Violence Awareness (Oct. 21-23)
- LGBTQ Pride Awareness (Oct. 11-12)
- Thanksgiving (Nov. 16-27)
- Christmas (Dec. 1-28)

The Airport, in its sole discretion, will add, delete or replace an event or observance to the list above. The Airport’s decision to include, remove or replace an event is not in any way an endorsement or denouncement of the cause or event.
