Hartsfield-Jackson Enters Sister Airport Agreement with Prague Airport

ATL signs seventh sister airport agreement to spur international connectivity

ATLANTA
– Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) officials joined Prague’s Vaclav Havel Airport officials to sign ATL’s first sister airport agreement in Europe. General Manager John Selden, Prague Airport Chairman Vaclav Rehor and Vice-Chairman Jiri Kraus signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in an effort to improve aviation collaboration and in hopes to one day revive non-stop flights between Atlanta and the Czech Republic’s capital city.

“International connectivity is key to Hartsfield-Jackson’s continued growth as the world’s busiest and most efficient airport,’ said General Manager John Selden. “With this agreement we hope to build on our international connectivity and collaboration not only with the Czech Republic but with our trade partners all around the world.”

“We are honored that ATL has signed a sister co-operation agreement with Prague Airport, the first of its kind amongst all European airports. We are looking forward to exchanging our experience in many areas, from airport development, through digitalization to customer experience. The traffic between both our countries more than doubled in 2018, so we see a great potential for further route development. Together, we would like to also initiate a discussion with the airlines about direct connection between Prague and Atlanta,” said Vaclav Rehor, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Prague Airport.

This marks ATL’s seventh sister airport agreement. Since 2015, ATL signed MOUs with leaders from the Shanghai Airport Authority in China, the Airports Authority of Jamaica, Roberts International Airport in Liberia, Ben Gurion International Airport in Israel, Monseñor Óscar Arnulfo Romero International Airport in El Salvador and Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport in Cote d’Ivoire.
