ATL and Copa Airlines officials celebrated first flight from Atlanta to Panama
ATLANTA – Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) in partnership with Copa Airlines today announced Copa Airlines’ inaugural service to ATL. On Sunday, Dec. 12 Copa Airlines officially began operations in ATL with a nonstop flight to Tocumen International Airport (PTY) in Panama City, Panama. This is the first new airline partnership announcement for ATL since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. ATL and Copa officials celebrated the occasion with a water canon salute for the arriving flight and a press event at the gate.
“We are pleased to welcome Copa Airlines to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport,” said Airport General Manager Balram “B” Bheodari. “As the world’s busiest and most efficient airport, we are excited that Copa Airlines will add to our travelers’ choice of expanded connectivity from Georgia to Central and South America. We look forward to a long and successful partnership with Copa Airlines.”
The Copa Airlines flights between Panama and Atlanta will operate on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The route will be operated using a Boeing 737-800 with a capacity of 16 seats in business class and 138 seats in the main cabin.
“Copa Airlines is excited to have begun flights to and from Atlanta and connect this rich and dynamic city with not only big cities but also the unique, underserved secondary destinations in Latin America,” said David DeFossey, Regional Sales Manager for North America at Copa Airlines.
“These new flights will carry significant leisure and business traffic, serving all communities in and around the city of Atlanta, while upholding our standing as one of the leading airlines in the Americas.”
