Hartsfield-Jackson Readies for Busy Holiday Travel Period
ATL shares travel tips for nearly 5.2 million passengers expected to travel through the Airport
ATLANTA— Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is preparing for a busy holiday season and is offering passengers a few important travel tips to navigate the world’s busiest and most efficient airport during the next two weeks.
Nearly 5.2 million passengers are expected to travel to, from or through ATL from Friday, Dec. 16, through Tuesday, Jan. 3. The busiest travel day is projected to be Dec. 16, with 308,186 passengers expected in the Airport.
Over this period, work on Hartsfield-Jackson’s multibillion-dollar capital improvement program, ATLNext, will continue with minimal passenger impact.
Passengers are advised to arrive at the Airport at least 2 1/2 hours before their scheduled departure for domestic flights and 3 hours in advance of international flights. Passengers with special needs are recommended to add 30 minutes to those arrival times.
There are additional measures you take to ensure a smoother travel experience:
Check atl.com for flight information, parking availability and directions, security wait times, and concessions options. Monitor the Airport and airline social media channels and download the airline’s mobile app for updated flight information. Consult TSA guidelines to help expedite the screening process. Do not attempt to bring weapons through TSA screening. Follow airline and TSA guidelines to check weapons for travel. Do not wrap gifts. Use gift bags that can be easily opened should security require additional screening. Remain vigilant of suspicious activities. If you see something, say something. Call 911 in the event of an emergency. ATL green-coated guest service representatives are prepared to offer assistance and answer questions at any time.
