Hartsfield-Jackson Signs Sister Airport Agreement with Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria

Pact seeks to bolster business and trade between regions

ATLANTA – Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding between ATL and Lagos (LOS) Feb. 2, establishing a commitment by the airports to help improve passenger and cargo operations between facilities.

These agreements will facilitate an exchange of ideas and share best practices to increase passenger and cargo traffic between the organizations.

Balram Bheodari, ATL general manager, Bridget Gold, FAAN legal advisor, Vanessa Ibarra, Mayor’s Office of International and Immigrant Affairs executive director, and Seinde Fadeni, Nigerian Aviation Handling Company board chairman, took part in the signing ceremony.

All parties see this as an opportunity to increase business, tourism and cultural relations between ATL and Nigeria. The pact is ATL’s second sister airport with an African airport system (Liberia Airport Authority is the first) and its ninth overall.
