New South Parking Deck Construction to Begin; Passengers Impacts Anticipated
South Economy Lot to close on Oct. 23; new seven-level structure will have 6,700 spaces

ATLANTA –  ATLNext—the multibillion-dollar capital improvement program at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL)—is taking a major step forward in addressing current and future passenger parking needs with the construction of the South Parking Deck.

“This is the most significant parking endeavor we’ve ever undertaken at Hartsfield-Jackson,” Jan Lennon, Airport Deputy General Manager for Operations. “In terms of enhanced parking assets at the Airport, the construction of the ATL West Deck was huge. But the new South Deck is even larger by about 20 percent. We think our customers will be very pleased with the technology included and how user-friendly the experience will be.”

The new structure will have seven levels and 6,700 parking spaces upon completion in late 2026. Smart technology components such as LED lighting, digital parking space availability, and ticketless entry and exit will provide a seamless parking experience. The parking facility will feature a new office for the Parking Manager, entry and exit plazas, a pedestrian bridge connecting it to the Domestic Terminal, revenue controls, and automatic parking guidance systems.

This multiyear project to address current and future parking needs will result in changes in traffic patterns and spaces available over its duration. Passengers are encouraged to use the parking options as the Airport improves its parking facilities:
