ATL Interim General Manager Jan Lennon’s Statement on the Passing of

Former President Jimmy Carter

ATLANTA – “Today, we join the nation and the world in mourning the loss of former President Jimmy Carter, a Georgian whose remarkable legacy of service, humility, and compassion transcended borders and inspired countless lives.

“As the 39th President of the United States, President Carter exemplified leadership rooted in empathy and a tireless commitment to human rights. His unwavering dedication to diplomacy and justice reshaped our world, while his humble, servant-hearted approach reminded us of the power of putting people first.

“On behalf of the entire Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport community, we extend our deepest condolences to the Carter family, the people of Plains, Georgia, and all who cherished his extraordinary life.

“President Carter’s life mission was to connect people — to foster understanding, peace, and progress. That mission resonates deeply with our work here at ATL, where every day, we strive to unite communities and nations. As we prepare to celebrate the centennial year of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, we are reminded that leadership like President Carter’s builds legacies that endure far beyond a lifetime.

“His legacy calls on all of us to lead with purpose, compassion, and a vision for a better tomorrow. As we reflect on his profound impact, may we honor his memory by continuing the work he began — building bridges, fostering hope, and striving for justice in our own communities and beyond.”
