Hartsfield-Jackson Renames Cell Phone Lot to “Park & Wait Lot”
Name change was made to improve the passenger experience, reduce congestion
ATLANTA— Drivers picking up passengers at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport will notice a name change at a familiar spot: the Cell Phone Lot is now the Park & Wait Lot.
Starting May 29, signage at the lot will be updated to reflect the new name, designed to better communicate its purpose as a free, short-term parking area for those waiting on arriving travelers.
The change is part of ATL’s broader strategy to reduce curbside congestion, especially during peak times. Many drivers bypass the lot, leading to backups on the roadways. These challenges often cause delays, reduce operational efficiency, and negatively affect traveler satisfaction. The Park & Wait Lot offers a safer, more convenient option, helping keep roadways clear and improving the passenger experience.
The lot continues to offer free parking and Wi-Fi, providing a comfortable waiting space close to the terminals. So, travelers and those picking up loved ones can now enjoy the same great amenities under a name that better reflects the space.
Directional signage will be updated along Airport roadways. Additional instructions are below.
