ATL Hosts Closing Ceremony for Pianos for Peace Festival
Closing ceremony to feature music, dance

ATLANTAHartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) officials will celebrate the close of the fourth annual Pianos for Peace Festival on Thursday, Sept. 19, in the Airport’s Domestic Terminal atrium. The project — which places colorful, painted pianos in public spaces across metro Atlanta — was the brainchild of Syrian native Malek Jandali. Having seen firsthand the effects of war, Jandali uses the festival to encourage all to come together to play the instruments, inspire artists and unite communities.

During the monthlong festival, musicians of all skill sets sat down at the ATL pianos, placed in both the Domestic and International terminals, to perform for passengers traveling through the world’s busiest airport.

Continuing the tradition of past Pianos for Peace celebrations, the two pianos at Hartsfield-Jackson will be donated to local schools following Thursday’s closing ceremony event. This year’s closing ceremony will also feature performances from two area schools.
