Hartsfield-Jackson Offers Critical Advice to Soothe Mass Exodus Woes

Hartsfield-Jackson and the Super Bowl Host Committee Provide tips for records crowds

ATLANTA – Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is anticipating 110,000 passengers will leave the city via air travel after Super Bowl LIII.  Monday, Feb 4 — referred to by the NFL as Mass Exodus Day —  will bolster record crowds. The great news is, the world’s busiest and most efficient airport is ready. ATL is asking media, host hotels and transit partners to serve as ambassadors and push the 5-4-3-2-1 message.  The messaging was developed by the Super Bowl Host Committee and is designed to ensure passengers a stress-free exit from the city after the big game.

Security checkpoints will be open 24 hours from Super Bowl Sunday into Monday. Also, passengers are urged not to pack their Super Bowl programs. Game programs are made of materials that could signal security scanners to alarm.

Travelers are encouraged to do the following:

5 hours before departure - check out of hotel 4 hours before departure - turn in your rental car 3 hours before departure – check your bags 2 hours before departure - go through security 1 hour before departure - be at your gate, ready to board

DON’T PACK YOUR PROGRAM!  Passengers should remember to take the program out of carry-on bags and put it in a separate security bin when going through security.

See the attached graphics to help disseminate the messaging.

There will be food and beverage locations open on every concourse as well as news stands for those who need to get last minute travel items.  This is a great time for travelers to see some of what makes Atlanta the best airport in the world.
