Hartsfield-Jackson Prepares for Busy Holiday Travel Period

More than 3.7 million passengers expected to travel through the world’s busiest airport

ATLANTA – Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) officials are working closely with Airport stakeholders to host more than 3.7 million passengers during the holiday period that runs from Sunday, Dec.16 to Wednesday, Jan. 2. Airport officials project these 18 days will be among the busiest during the holiday season.

ATL leaders and partners at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) are taking steps to ensure passengers have a safe, efficient and enjoyable experience as they travel with their families and loved ones through the Airport.

As ATL works to ease congestion and facilitate passenger travel during this busy holiday travel period, officials offer passengers the following travel tips:

Arrive in the Airport two hours prior to domestic departure flight times, three hours for international flights Utilize mass transit like MARTA, rideshare options like Lyft and Uber, and taxis Follow Airport and airline social media accounts for timely updates Check the Airport’s website (www.atl.comfor the most up-to-date parking information and security wait times

In addition, early morning Saturday, Dec. 22, the Domestic Terminal North Uber and Lyft pickup zones will be relocated to a spot 750 feet closer to the terminal. The new pickup zone is located underneath the MARTA tracks right outside of the North parking deck. Customer Service Representatives and prominent wayfinding signage will direct passengers to the new location, accessible through the Lower North exit door (marked “LN1”). The Terminal South pickup area will remain the same while the curbside canopy is under construction. For passengers using Uber and Lyft at the International Terminal, pickups will remain at the curbside.
