Update On Waterline Issue at ATL

Majority of Concourse B flights to operate as scheduled; some concessionaires, restrooms on Concourse B impacted by waterline issue. Repairs underway.

ATLANTAAt approximately 4:25 p.m. Sunday, June 19, Atlanta Fire and Rescue responded to a report of a fire alarm near the Georgia Power tunnel under Concourse B at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL).  Upon arrival, firefighters discovered water leaking through seams in the pavement.  After consultation with staff from the Airport and the Department of Watershed, it was determined the leak was coming from a break in an eight-inch line that provides potable water to Concourse B. The portion of the line causing the leak was isolated and closed late Sunday night. The remainder of the line is working and is servicing the south half of the Concourse.

All of the water released by the break eventually receded.

Three gates on B Concourse were temporarily closed as a result of the incident; due to the late hour and limited traffic at the time there was minimal impact to operations. Two gates on B remain closed.

The B centerpoint food court is operating, concessions on B South are operating, and restrooms on B South are operating.

Passengers are reminded to monitor their airlines for more information. Concessions updates and general Airport information is always available on ATL.com.

Repairs are currently underway; a timeline for completion of the repairs has not been established.

The cause of the water main break is under investigation.
