Hartsfield-Jackson Gets Preparedness for Winter Weather Emergency Down Cold
Units across the Airport to take part in winter weather emergency simulation
ATLANTA – Although Atlanta hasn’t experienced measurable snowfall since January 2022, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) will train for the next time winter weather could impact operations. So, on Dec. 4, the Department of Aviation’s business units, various federal agencies, and airline stakeholders will participate in Big Bird on Ice, ATL’s annual winter weather event exercise. This training aims for all responsible organizations to demonstrate their ability to implement tasks and actions safely based on weather forecasts and changing weather conditions, as established in their winter weather plans.
