Hartsfield-Jackson Begins Phase 2 of Concourse D Widening Project

The first of the next set of modules was affixed to Concourse D overnight

 

ATLANTAFive modules down. Movement of the next set of five modules is underway.

 

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) initiated Phase 2 of its ambitious Concourse D Widening Project this morning when Module 6 was transported from the modular yard and attached to Concourse D. Four more module moves are scheduled to take place by January 31.

 

The release of the first set of modules on Sept. 4, 2024, completed Phase 1 of the project. The project, which is slated to finish in the summer of 2029, will have 19 modules attached to the existing structure.

 

Once completed, the modernized Concourse D will have:

Larger hold rooms (gate areas) twice their original size, with increased seating of 6,400 Corridor width expanded by 29 feet Ceiling height raised by 18 feet 75% increase in boarding level square footage New restrooms twice their original size New building systems 34 aircraft positions for Group III aircraft (eight fewer due to greater capacity of larger jets)
