Main Security Checkpoint Elevator Modernization Begins Aug. 11

Passengers should plan for detours and alternative elevator access

ATLANTA — The Main Security Checkpoint lift is getting a facelift.

As part of a planned modernization project, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) informs travelers that the Main Security Checkpoint elevator will be out of service from 11 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, through 4 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21.

The maintenance will require passengers to use alternate elevator access temporarily. Passengers and wheelchair pushers needing elevator service should use the Concourse T-Midpoint elevators. A designated detour route is in place, with instructions for exiting on the Plane Train level.

Wayfinding support will be provided through supplemental detour signage posted along the route. Additionally, customer service representatives will be available to help travelers and provide directions.

This modernization project will enhance accessibility and improve operational efficiency. ATL thanks travelers for their patience and encourages passengers to allow extra time when navigating the detour.
