Hartsfield-Jackson Prepares for Busy Spring Travel
8.3 million passengers are expected to travel through ATL during the month of April
(Corrected April 3 passenger numbers)
ATLANTA – As the spring travel surge approaches, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is preparing to welcome more than 8.3 million passengers this month. With spring break underway, Friday, April 3, is expected to be the busiest travel day of the month. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is anticipating 94,487 security screenings. The ATL’s single-day record of 114,000 set in May 2025.
To help travelers make the most of their journey, ATL is offering a few key tips:
Plan Ahead
The busiest days for leisure travel are Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. Give yourself plenty of time; arrive at least 2.5 hours before domestic flights and 3 hours before international departures.
Stay Informed
Check ATL.com for real-time updates on security wait times, parking availability and available dining/shopping options. Monitor the Airport's social media channels (@ATLairport) and download your airline’s app for all pertinent updates.
Pack Smart
Double-check your bags before heading to the airport. Visit TSA’s “What Can I Bring?” page to avoid packing prohibited items. Firearms and ammunition must be properly stored in checked luggage.
Whether you are heading out to visit loved ones or embarking on a spring getaway, ATL is committed to providing a safe and seamless journey for everyone with the highest level of customer service.
